Tips & Tricks For Migrating Your Website To WordPress!

Having a CMS website is crucial in today’s day and age of digitization. For most cases, a platform for scaling up the business and augmenting productivity lies in the digital space. WordPress is a great CMS solution which is equipped with the best and in trend features that offer you the kind of functionality you need for your business. You really should consider migrating to the latest version of WordPress to not just avail all its perks but also safeguard yourself from cyber attacks.

WordPress Website Migration
Before we get into the steps, let us discuss briefly why you would want to shift in the first place.

One Of These Reasons Could Be Applicable:

- You have worked on your site on your computer (locally) and want to get it hosted online.

- You are looking to change the domain or the sub-domain of your website.

- You are unhappy with the current hosting provider and are looking for a better one to shift to.

Different Ways Of Having Your Website Migrated:

You could - do it manually if you have the expertise and time for it, pay someone else to do it for you, or use a plugin.

Here’s how you can move your website to WordPress using a plugin(the third option).

There are different plugins available. You may try them and check which works best for you if you wish to but here’s one that already works for many. Sticking to this one might save you time and effort.

1) Install The “All-in-One WP Migration” Plugin:

This one bundles all your site information into a single file and allows for easy migration to its new location. However, its free version has a constraint of not being able to move sites with large sizes.

2) Create A “Migration Bundle” Of Your Website:

In order to do this, you need to select the plugin “All-in-One WP Migration” option on your page, go to export, type your current web address, and choose to replace it with the new address. Remember, you won’t have to change all the elements in the address like “ http(s)://”.

3) Install WordPress At The New Location Of Your Website:

Doing, this will allow the internet to understand that you are shifting web hosts and it will react accordingly. There are plenty of tutorials already available on how to do this.

4) Upload Your Website And Test It:

After you upload the site and follow the prompts, you will be asked again if you want to change the permalinks once more. If such a message pops up, you may simply click save. It is understood that the migration has been successful at this point.

As mentioned earlier, there are many ways to migrate your website to a new location. Here, we have discussed how we can achieve that using a plugin.
